Counselling & Survivor Support
Crisis counselling, legal guidance and accompaniment to courts and police — the foundation of everything we do.
Learn moreFeminist. Secular. Fearless.
One of India's oldest feminist organisations, working since 1985.
We work for gender equality, women's rights, education, leadership and economic independence — centring the struggles of Muslim women, rooted in dignity and solidarity across caste, class and religion.
Who we are
Our journey began in the wake of the historic Shah Bano case. Our founder, Shehnaaz Shaikh, challenged unilateral divorce in the Supreme Court after experiencing injustice herself — and with other women facing similar struggles, built the network that became Aawaaz-e-Niswaan.
